Seafood Club on hiatus after the end of the season June 2025

Dear Fishadelphia friends, 

We have a big–and somewhat bittersweet–announcement to make. We are pausing Fishadelphia’s Seafood Club, our subscription seafood service, at the end of this season in June. Our Seafood Club has been a huge component of Fishadelphia’s work since we started in 2016. We love distributing fresh NJ seafood in Philadelphia neighborhoods, but we’ve decided that we are instead going to focus on some of our other work building connections between our city and shore communities, such as events and trips.  


Why?

  • We are a small and overstretched team. Over the last year, we cut down our educational programming to try to lighten the load. During this time focused on selling seafood, we realized that we want to do community education work more. At heart, we’re community builders (not salespeople or logistics managers). <3


Questions you might be thinking about  

  • What does this mean for current Members? Check your email for a more detail breakdown of changes you may see, but briefly: we will cancel all recurring subscriptions by the end of June. For monthly customers, your last automatic payment will be on 6/4 and then your subscription will be cancelled. Customers who have paid for annual or 3-month memberships may receive cancellation notices sooner, and will also receive a separate email with details about how extra pre-paid pickups can be handled.

  • When is the last pickup? Pickups are going to continue according to our schedule until the end of our season, June 25. See the pickup schedule here: https://fishadelphia.com/pages/pickup-locations 

  • Does this mean that I can’t get fresh local seafood after the end of June? Of course not!  We will continue finding ways to bring fresh, local seafood to Philadelphians. First up, we are planning events where folks can meet with harvesters, eat, and buy seafood, including a summer oyster party.

  • Will Seafood Club restart? If so, when? At this point, we’re not planning for it but neither is it an impossibility. The best way to stay in the know about a possible return of Fishadelphia’s Seafood Club is to stay on our mailing list and keep following us on social media.


What do I do next? How can I support?  

  • Enjoy the rest of this season’s Seafood Club! Also, it’s not too late to buy a Membership, or unpause your Membership for the last couple months.

  • Stay tuned for announcements about our upcoming events, including a summer oyster party, and bring all your friends with you when you come!
