Seafood memberships!

We’re introducing some new and more flexible ways to get and pay for fresh local seafood!  You can still join for a season like before, but now you can also sign up for annual and monthly memberships!  Check it out!  

  • Annual membership (Year-round) → 10% discount! 
    20 pickups per year = 8 fall + 8 spring + 4 summer.  Renews annually.    

    • You know you want seafood year-round, and can afford to support Fishadelphia by paying in advance.  

  • School-year membership (Fall + Spring only - no Summer) → 10% discount!  
    16 pickups per year (Sep-May) = 8 fall + 8 spring.  Renews annually.

    • You know you want seafood during the school year (Sep-May), and can afford to support Fishadelphia by paying in advance.

  • Seasonal membership (Fall or Spring only) → 5% discount! 
    8 pickups per season.  Renews every 6 months. Only available during the sign-up window before the start of each season (sign-up deadline is typically one week before the first pickup).

    • You know you want seafood for the upcoming season but are not sure about after that.  You can afford to support Fishadelphia by paying in advance.

  • Summer membership (Summer only) 
    4 pickups per season.  Renews annually. Only available at the start of the summer season (sign-up deadline is typically one week before the first pickup). 

    • You know you want seafood over the summer but are not sure about after that.  You can afford to support Fishadelphia by paying in advance.

  • Monthly membership 
    Two pickups per month.  Renews every 4 weeks.   

    • You know you want seafood for the foreseeable future but it works better for you to pay a small amount monthly instead of a big amount once a season or once a year. 
      OR

    • You want to try this seafood club thing but aren’t ready to commit for a whole season.

You still choose whole fish (Blue Club) or fillets (Orange Club).


What if I want to cancel a Monthly membership?

You can cancel your Monthly membership at any time!  If you cancel, you will continue to receive fish that you paid for through the end of the month, and you will not receive any refunds.  

What if I want to cancel an Annual, School Year, or Seasonal membership?

We ask that you only sign up for an Annual, School Year, or Seasonal membership if you can commit to the full length of the membership. If you are worried about the commitment, please sign up for a Monthly membership instead!  

  • You can of course cancel your membership at the end of the time period without any penalty.  You will receive multiple emails that allow you to cancel before renewal occurs. 

  • You can also cancel your auto-renewal anytime.  

  • If something unexpected and dire comes up in the middle of the season, please reach out to us directly.  We can refund your remaining credits minus a processing fee of two shares.  

Why are Annual, School Year, or Seasonal memberships discounted?

Longer commitments and upfront payments save staff time and enable Fishadelphia to plan further ahead and lower the cost of fish for everyone. Discounts are our way of thanking members who can support us in this way!

What if I want to join Purple Club (finfish only)?

Purple Club memberships can only be purchased during the sign-up window before the start of each season. They are also only available for Seasonal, School Year, and Annual memberships. You can find more information here.

What if I signed up for a membership but can’t pick up one week?  

If you know that you can’t make your pickup, you can make arrangements for a friend to pick up for you.  Or you can let us know by clicking the “Skip Pickup” button in your pickup emails, and we will donate your share to a student or mutual aid organization.  

If you miss your pickup, please contact your host directly if you want to coordinate.  (Please keep in mind that your host may or may not be able to accommodate you at another time, and your seafood may no longer be available after 48 hours.)  

We are not able to offer compensatory shares or refunds if you miss, forget, or are unable to make your pickup.  

Please also know that Fishadelphia may change pickup day/times due to weather and other events (see below). 

Why are we making all these changes?  

A few reasons: 

  • We want to give people more flexibility to get seafood when it works for them!

  • Paying for a whole season in advance can be a challenge even for customers who are able to pay market rate. We want to make fresh seafood accessible to as many people as possible.

  • We realized that being part of Fishadelphia isn’t just being a customer - it’s more like being a member of our community.  So our new system is more explicitly about membership.
