Youth Program
Fishadelphia runs an after-school program for middle and high school students at two schools in Philadelphia: Mastery Charter Thomas Campus (near 9th & Oregon, in South Philly), and Simon Gratz Mastery Charter (at 18th & Hunting Park, in North Philly). Our program meets 1-2 times a week at each location.
Our students host a biweekly fishstand for members to pick up seafood. Students learn about the fish species we sell - their ecology and life history, how they’re caught, and how to cook them. Students also learn business and technology skills, such as customer service, managing payments, and social media content creation. Students are invited to attend weekend trips to fishing docks and shellfish farms.
Students who participate in our program for longer than a semester are eligible to apply for a paid stipend. We also often hire students over the summers and after they graduate: check out our “Our Team” page to find out more about our students and graduates.
Our youth staff have extensive experience working with Philadelphia youth. We are an explicitly LGBTQ+ affirming space.
