Youth Program

Fishadelphia runs a weekly after-school program for middle and high school students at the Mastery Charter Thomas Campus (near 9th & Oregon) in South Philly

Our students host a biweekly fishstand for Seafood Club Members to pick up seafood. Students learn about the fish species we sell - their ecology and life history, how they’re caught, and how to cook them. Students also learn business and technology skills, such as customer service, managing payments, and social media content creation. Students are invited to attend weekend trips to fishing docks and shellfish farms.

Students who participate in our program for longer than a semester are eligible to apply for a paid stipend. We also often hire students over the summers and after they graduate: check out our “Our Team” page to find out more about our students and graduates.

Our youth staff have extensive experience working with Philadelphia youth. We are an explicitly LGBTQ+ affirming space.

  • “I’ve learned a little bit how to run a business and cooperate with others.”

    Bryan (10th grade)

    Nayeli (12th grade)
  • “I like being a part of a place to help and work together.”

    Tristan (10th grade)

    Nayeli (12th grade)
  • “What really pulled me in was when you talked about food justice.”

    Raymond (11th grade)
