Maxwell Shellfish is a sixth generation wholesale and retail market that cultivates, buys and sells oysters, clams and other seafood. Based in Port Republic on Nacote Creek, the operation is owned and run by John Maxwell, his wife Kimberly and their daughters, Gretchen & Bridgitte. Their oyster boats – the Capt. Curtis Maxwell and the Capt. Joe Dayton – are named after John's grandfathers. Fishadelphia was introduced to the Maxwells by George Mathis, our fish wrangler, who has known John for many years. We buy delicious, wild-harvested oysters that taste like Mullica Bay from the Maxwells.
